Vale a pena conferir:

I EELLA - Encontro de Estudantes de Língua e Literatura Anglófonas / Ufpa

The first meeting of students in Marabá took place last Tuesday (Dec 7th). It is a remarkable moment for the graduation course which has recently started in town. Teachers and students believe this is the first step in order to focus in the future of the course.
Prof. Luciana Kinochita talked about the professional perspectives of people graduating as teachers, as well as the range of possibilities as a foreign language educator.
Prof. Gizélia Freitas talked about AUTONOMY and what we should do in order to become autonomous teachers and learners.
Teachers Jairo and Claudia Vidal commented on a movie documentary played over the event, which was about THE CELTIC PEOPLES, and the relevance of teaching and learning with culture.

A group of students talked about The Canterbury Tales, a classical of english literature and brought about the relevance of it for language studies.
Another group talked about "As nuvens" an adaptation of Aristophanes work as part of the discipline Teoria Literária. In this work, students produced a short video to portray the story.
Teacher Jairo and Maclen (wearing a so-called Justin Bieber wig) after THE TALK SHOW presentation.
My best wishes and success to all those who somehow contributed to this remarkable day.

Rainy weather has come to Marabá.

The rainy weather is really bad for mobile connection and internet users have difficulties to manipulate files online. Let's hope the weather gives us a break so we can use the net mor comfortably

O clima "fechou" esta semana em Marabá e com isso a conexão móvel que já é uma m... ficou ainda pior.

What's behind the lyrics?

John Lennon and Elton John had become good friends along the 70s. They composed and played together several times live and in studio. In 1974, they also played together at the Madison Square Garden in New York, the city where John Lennon had been living for some time.
After Lennon's death, Elton John composed a song named Empty Garden as a tribute to his musician friend. The song became very popular in the eighties, also because of that.

If you read the lyrics you will perceive the imagery used by Elton John to tell us about his dead friend. It is sad but beautifully written as well. When you listen to it, you will probably feel moved like I do whenever I listen to it.
LET'S CHECK THE LYRICS AND CHECK THE LINK TO WATCH THE VIDEO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AABK5eY1DGc
What happened here
As the New York sunset disappeared
I found an empty garden among the flagstones there
Who lived here
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
And now it all looks strange
It's funny how one insect can damage so much grain

And what's it for
This little empty garden by the brownstone door
And in the cracks along the sidewalk nothing grows no more
Who lived here
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
And we are so amazed we're crippled and we're dazed
A gardener like that one no one can replace
Chorus:
And I've been knocking but no one answers
And I've been knocking most all the day
Oh and I've been calling oh hey hey Johnny
Can't you come out to play

And through their tears
Some say he farmed his best in younger years
But he'd have said that roots grow stronger if only he could hear
Who lived there
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
Now we pray for rain, and with every drop that falls
We hear, we hear your name

Johnny, can't you come out to play in your empty garden
(Repeat Last Line And Fade)
