MATINTAPERERA: AN INTERCULTURAL ACTIVITY

The workshop MATINTAPERERA: AN INTERCULTURAL ACTIVITY was presented as part of the V SEALL (Seminário de Ensino e prendizagem de Lingua e Literatura) at the campus I in Marabá.
The proposal is to bring about a discussion over our conceptions of language teaching and think of how these perceptions affect directly our job as a teacher of language.
The workshop starts with the teacher's theoretical view over the cultural dimension of language teaching. The necessity to ally both linguistic and cultural competences and a critcism over the traditional approach which works language and culture separately.
The teacher also explained that Halloween parties in Brazil are usually promoted without any criteria and it represents a misunderstood view of teaching with culture. According to the teacher, Halloween parties became popular in Brazil particularly because of the irresponsible attitude propmoted by "cursos livres" all over Brazil which reduce the views of people to one country or national identity, the USA. People have much more to gain if they have got the chance to experience a real interchange in culture: AN INTERCULTURAL APPROACH, NOT AN APPROACH OF ASSIMILATION.
In the end, Rousely and Evandro (photo) performed Matintaperera and Manduca Torquato by the sound of Mosaico de Ravena (rock band) playing "Matintaperera", a song by Waldemar Henrique.
WE HAD A GREAT TIME!

SOON, I'LL POST THE VIDEO HERE FOR YOU!
