II EELLA, A REMARKABLE DAY!

The II EELLA (Encontro de Estudantes de Lingua e Literatura Anglofonas) took place in Marabá. It was a remarkable day for the students. They all had the chance to present their works at the campus' auditorium.
The morning started with a lecture by professor Isabel. She talked about the use of the internet, digital literacy and ethics as important issues for teachers and students nowadays.
Prof. Isabel talked about digital literacy.
After that, students had the chance to participate of a workshop: A Interculturalidade nas Crônicas de Narnia e de São Paulo. Joyce Cordeiro, Ana Maria and Julio Cezar were the students who prepared a haunted maze where people could experience the contact to the amazing characters of the literature fables.
At 10:00am, students could watch the movie OLHOS AZUIS, a brazilian movie which talks about prejudice, xenophoby and intercultural issues. The movie was later the theme of a discussion led by teacher Jairo Souza at the auditorium.

In the afternoon, the lecture of professor Dan Baron from Wales was definitely another remarkable moment of the event. Professor Dan has been living in Marabá for many years and talked to the students about his life, his work and projects in Brazil. The best thing is that everyone had the chance to listen and speak English as well.
Dan Baron talked about cultural literacy in Brazil.
Kenny, Talitha, Amailton, Dan Baron, Gleiciane, Delainy, Ava and Evandro after the lecture.
Along the day, we also had Literature and Linguistic Presentations. Some of the themes involved: W.B. Yeats poetry, Chaucer works and spooky stories as well.
Other topics: cultural issues in English textbooks in Brazil, textbooks reviews and EFL classes issues. In order to see more pics, you can click at the PICASA album here on this page.
My congratulations to all those who somehow contributed to this remarkable day!

  1. Grace was not because the students were again excluded Pafor indeed this campus just wont to greet students in regular courses, I remember the last period we have been treated with iron and fire by FAEL, and then there was a wide range of students drooling regular politics a clear exclusion

  2. O EELLA é um evento organizado pelos próprios estudantes. A FAEL não participou da organização. Tudo foi realizado pelos estudantes. Eu, como professor, decidi registrar e postar aqui.
